PPIA is seeking a Special Events & Marketing Intern (Paid) at the National Office.

Alliance for Excellent Education is looking for two fall interns. It is a Washington, DC-based policy, research, and advocacy organization that is helping to formulate and implement a national policy to provide proven, research-based assistance to the secondary schools that house our nation's most academically vulnerable students - those six million youngsters who are most likely to drop out of high school or graduate unprepared for college and a productive future. Alejandro Lara, (1993 PPIA Fellow at UC Berkeley) and his family were featured in the Wall Street Journal on July 20, 2005 as part of the WSJ's series on "Mobility in America". The article, "Once Here Illegally, The Laras Savor Children's Success", discusses the senior Laras' upward move in America.

Marlon Brown, who recently got accepted into the class of 2005 PPIA Junior Summer Institute at Princeton University, will be interning at PPIA as the Fundraising and Development Intern. He will be working closely with Chris Matias to garner financial support for PPIA. Marlon is a college junior at American University, with a concentration in Political Science and Public Policy. He grew up in Warren, MI and attended the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy. Please join us in welcoming Marlon to our PPIA team!

The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) is seeking an intern for the Institute for Hispanic Health (IHH) – immediately.

Jane Lee, a PPIA Fellow (2004 Junior Summer Institute at UC Berkeley ), is one of Glamour magazine's “Top 10 College Students” and is featured in the October 2004 issue.  Please pick up an issue and read her success story!

Monique M. King-Viehland, a PPIA Alumna ( 1998 Junior Summer Institute at Princeton ) was recently selected as a WQED/Pittsburgh Magazine and the Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project (PUMP) 40 Under 40" Honoree.

PPIA Day of Service Newsletter - on a bright and sunny Saturday morning, ten PPIA Fellows, alumni, staff and friends crossed over the Anacostia River to volunteer at the Urban Oasis Community Farm and Learning Center.  Although meteorologists predicted rain all weekend, we were blessed with good weather to work on the farm.
