The PPIA Fellowship Program works to “promote the inclusion and full participation of underrepresented groups in public service.” This mission is pursued in two areas of activity: raising awareness of academic and professional opportunities related to public service; and directly preparing an annual cohort of PPIA Fellows for graduate school studies in public affairs and related careers. Job Summary:            

PPIA is looking for an outgoing, energetic, friendly and articulate person who could successfully work with diverse groups in academic and nonprofit settings. Based in Washington, DC, the internship will focus on the planning, marketing and implementation of the PPIA Public Service EXPO to be held this fall in Miami, FL. This event is intended as a forum for students and young professionals to learn about professional opportunities in public service and to network with employers and graduate schools. Additional survey work and program support also falls under the responsibility of this position. The intern will report directly to the Program Manager. Specific responsibilities include:

● Marketing events to college students and young professionals as well as to
   governmental and nonprofit agencies to be exhibitors

● Organizing workshop and panel sessions

● Managing registration process for both student participants and exhibitors

● Maintaining regular communication and updates with all parties related to EXPO

● Supporting Program Manager with various administrative tasks, research, phone support, data entry, post-event wrap-ups and additional projects unrelated to EXPO

Qualifications:            

● Excellent verbal and written skills
● Highly organized and detail oriented
● Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
● Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
● Outstanding interpersonal skills; ability to network with individuals and
    institutions and develop positive organizational relationships

Terms:                        

● This is a paid internship
● 20 hours per week, 10-12 weeks, flexible schedule
● We are looking to start intern as soon as possible
