What to expect:
Apply to attend this free student conference that will introduce you to the rewarding career of public service and the vital role that it plays in promoting activism and resilience in our communities.
Panel and group discussions: Hear from faculty, students, alumni, and community members working in the field of public policy. Learn how to turn your passion for social justice into a career in public policy.
Workshops: Experiential learning that will challenge you to address policy issues through activism and community engagement. Solve real world challenges while building skills for your policy leaders toolkit. These skills will include working in teams, having and leading courageous conversations, civic engagement and public communication.
Social Events: Networking with community organizers, socials with current graduate students and alumni of the Humphrey School, organized meals and activities in the city of Minneapolis.
Keynote Speakers: Champions of diversity, equity and civil rights in Minnesota.
Participants will be undergraduate freshman, sophomores or juniors at a 2 or 4-year college or university with interest in the public sector. Preference will be given to Minnesota-based students but applications are welcome from students living outside of Minnesota. Preference will also be given to underrepresented students. All majors welcome.
The conference is co-sponsored by the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, and the national organizations PPIA and NASPAA.
