PPIA Program is a not-for-profit organization supporting efforts to increase diversity in public service and graduate studies in public policy and international affairs.
PPIA believes that our democracy will be stronger, better responsive to the needs of the American people, and more trustworthy when we ensure those entering public service are more representative and inclusive of American identities and global experiences.
PPIA seeks to cultivate the next generations of diverse public service and international affairs professionals by investing in their education, essential skills, and networks to effect domestic and global change.
PPIA sees the opportunity for a thriving and equitable world uplifted by visionary, inclusive, and compassionate leaders.
PPIA offers a set of programs that facilitate education and career access for historically underrepresented people. Key programs include our Junior Summer Institute, Public Service Weekend, Public Service Expo, our Alumni Network and Graduate School Consortium. Together, these programs support students to find their individual path towards a career in public service.
Are you a rising undergraduate junior interested in a career dedicated to public service? Our Junior Summer Institute is the perfect place to start!
Each year, PPIA seeks out high-potential undergraduate students from universities across the country to become PPIA Fellows and participate in an intensive, seven-week PPIA Junior Summer Institute hosted by one of our six prestigious university partners.
The Junior Summer Institute program is specially designed to give students from historically underrepresented backgrounds and diverse lived experience greater access to a successful career in public service.
During the Junior Summer Institute, our diverse fellows are equipped with the knowledge and skills they will need to succeed in graduate school and ultimately in influential roles serving the public good. Fellows will also receive a summer stipend.
Additionally, fellows that complete the PPIA Junior Summer Institute receive a minimum $5,000 fellowship when studying public or international affairs at a school in our Graduate School Consortium.
PPIA Fellows completing a Junior Summer Institute become part of our Alumni Network of over 5,000 public service leaders in all levels of government, providing ongoing connection, opportunity and programming.
PPIA Fellows receive additional fellowships of least $5,000 when they attend an institution in our Graduate School Consortium.
PPIA Fellows receive a summer stipend for food, travel, and other expenses to facilitate full participation in their PPIA Junior Summer Institute.
