Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why should our institution join the PPIA Consortium?

Joining the PPIA Consortium connects your institution to a national network dedicated to preparing the next generation of leaders in public service.

Consortium membership provides institutions with three key advantages:

    Recruitment Pipeline

PPIA connects graduate programs with students who are actively exploring careers in public policy, international affairs, and public service through programs such as the Junior Summer Institutes and national convenings.

    Access to High-Potential Talent

Consortium members engage with motivated students who are preparing for graduate study and leadership roles in policy and public service.

    Long-Term Partnership

Membership places your institution within a collaborative network of universities working together to expand pathways into public service while strengthening connections across the PPIA network.

  • What is the PPIA Consortium?

The PPIA Consortium is a national network of universities, graduate programs, and institutional partners committed to preparing the next generation of leaders in public service.

Through this network, institutions collaborate with PPIA to connect with talented students, elevate program visibility, and participate in initiatives that strengthen pathways into graduate education and public service careers.

  • What does the Standard Consortium Membership include?

The Standard Consortium Membership ($3,000) provides institutions with foundational participation in the PPIA network and includes:

    • Three featured program spotlights across PPIA channels
    • A dedicated institutional profile page on the PPIA website
    • Opportunities to share program announcements and updates
    • Visibility across PPIA communications platforms
    • Participation in the broader PPIA partner network

These benefits help institutions increase awareness among students interested in graduate study in public policy and international affairs.

  • What is the membership period?

PPIA Consortium Membership operates on a calendar-year cycle from January through December 2026.

Institutions may join at any point during the year; however, joining earlier allows your program to take advantage of visibility, engagement, and recruitment opportunities sooner.

  • If we join later in the year, do we still pay the full membership amount?

Yes. Consortium membership is structured as an annual investment that supports programming and engagement throughout the full calendar year.

Institutions may join at any time during 2026. However, the earlier your institution joins, the sooner you can begin benefiting from the promotional opportunities, visibility, and engagement that come with membership.

  • Why are membership invoices returning in 2026 if we did not receive one in 2025?

During 2025, PPIA undertook a series of organizational improvements and program enhancements. As part of this process, we temporarily paused the consortium membership invoicing cycle while these updates were implemented.

As we relaunch the membership structure for 2026, we are grateful for the continued partnership and support of institutions across the PPIA network and appreciate the grace extended during this transition period.

Now that the consortium structure has been reintroduced, we are also clearly articulating the benefits institutions receive as Consortium Members, ensuring that programs have a transparent understanding of the value, visibility, and engagement opportunities included with membership.

  • What are the PPIA Investment Add-Ons?

In addition to the Standard Consortium Membership, institutions may choose to participate in optional Investment Add-Ons that expand visibility and recruitment opportunities.

    These include:

    • Signature Investment
    • Strategic Investment
    • Founders Investment

Each level builds upon the Standard Membership and offers additional opportunities for storytelling, promotion, and deeper collaboration with PPIA.

These investments are designed for institutions seeking to elevate their recruitment strategy, program visibility, and national presence within the PPIA network.

  • Do PPIA Consortium Members receive access to the Future Leaders Exposition?

Yes. Active PPIA Consortium Member institutions are eligible to participate in the PPIA Future Leaders Exposition (formerly known as the Public Service Expo).

This annual career fair brings together 300+ students from across the country, including all fellows participating in the PPIA Junior Summer Institutes at Harvard University, Princeton University, and the University of Michigan, who will convene together for the first time at one national event.

Consortium member institutions may host recruitment tables and engage directly with students exploring graduate study and careers in public policy and international affairs.

  • Is participation in the Future Leaders Exposition included in the Consortium Membership?

No. Event registration and sponsorship opportunities for the Future Leaders Exposition are separate from the annual Consortium Membership fee.

Consortium membership provides institutions with eligibility to participate in the event. Registration fees support the operational costs associated with hosting the exposition and related programming.

  • How can our institution become a PPIA Consortium Member?

Institutions may join the PPIA Consortium by selecting the membership option that best aligns with their goals, either Standard Membership or one of the Investment Add-Ons, and clicking the corresponding call-to-action button at the top of that section o that respective page.

    Organizations may either:

    • Submit payment online through the membership page
    • Request an institutional invoice for processing through their university procurement systems

For questions about membership or partnership opportunities, institutions may contact Ray Orquiola, PPIA Treasurer, at ray.orquiola@ppiaprogram.org
