The Next Generation Of Public Service Leadership Is Gathering In Washington
The PPIA Future Leaders Summit reflects a broader evolution happening across public service leadership development. Formerly known as the PPIA Public Service Expo, the event now represents something larger: leadership development, national visibility, relationship-building, and access to opportunity for students preparing to lead across government, policy, nonprofits, international affairs, and global institutions.
A National Convening for the Next Generation of Public Service Leaders
Hosted at George Washington University on July 9 and 10, the Summit will convene PPIA’s 2026 Junior Summer Institute Fellows from Harvard University, Princeton University, and the University of Michigan for leadership-focused programming centered on professional growth, networking, and community-building.
A major component of the experience will be the Future Leaders Expo on July 10, which expands participation beyond the JSI cohort by bringing together more than 300 students and recent graduates living, studying, or interning in Washington, DC during the summer.
Graduate schools, employers, fellowship programs, and mission-driven organizations will connect directly with students exploring careers across policy, government, international affairs, advocacy, and public leadership.
The Summit reflects the growing importance of building strong leadership pipelines into public service at a time when institutions across the country are navigating increasingly complex policy, economic, technological, and global challenges.
And for PPIA, the Summit reinforces the organization’s focus on Access, Advancement, and Influence while creating greater visibility for students, alumni, institutions, and partners across the national public service landscape.
Throughout the two-day convening, students will engage in leadership programming, networking opportunities, professional development, and conversations about the future of public service leadership in America and beyond.
This summer, Washington becomes the meeting point for the next generation of public service leadership.
